WHAT IS SoAP?

Sepsis Alliance of Pakistan (SoAP)

is a non-profit charity organisation with the mission to provide multidisciplinary leadership to raise awareness about early sepsis recognition, timely management according to the current international guidelines, and make this preventable cause of death and disability a health priority for policy makers.


SoAP is a member of the Asia Pacific Sepsis Alliance and Global Sepsis Alliance (GSA), that initiated the World Sepsis Day commemorated globally on September 13th.

The Global Sepsis Alliance is a non-profit charity organization with the mission to provide global leadership to reduce the worldwide burden of sepsis. The GSA was founded at the Merinoff Symposium, which was hosted by the Feinstein Institute, in 2010 with the aim to raise awareness for sepsis worldwide and reduce sepsis deaths by 20% by 2020. Asia Pacific Sepsis Alliance (APSA)

The Asia Pacific Sepsis Alliance was formed in Bangkok, Thailand in October 2018. It works with its members, regional governments, the World Health Organization, and engaged individuals to change how sepsis is prioritized, diagnosed, and treated within the Asian Pacific region, as laid out by the WHO Resolution on Sepsis. World Sepsis Day

World Sepsis Day is held on September 13th every year and is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against sepsis. Sepsis accounts for at least 11 million deaths worldwide annually. Yet, depending on country and education, sepsis is known only to 7 – 50 % of the people. Likewise, it is poorly known that sepsis can be prevented by vaccination and clean care and that early recognition and treatment reduces sepsis mortality by 50 %. This lack of knowledge makes sepsis the number one preventable cause of death worldwide. More...
